Joseph O'Connor visits us!
On Monday, 15th of December 2014, the well known writer Joseph O'Connor (author of Star of the Sea, Ghost Light and many more) talked to the Creative Writing group about his book, about writing and how he first started to write. He read aloud some of his funny poems and gave us plenty of writing tips. One of the things he said that stuck, was to write about something you are interested in because it makes writing a lot more fun. He was very friendly and had amusing answers to every question. The second years in our school's creative writing club set up the library for him and Helen O' Beirne drew him an excellent picture of all his books on behalf of the school. Thank you to Joseph O'Connor for coming and thank you to Ms Boland for organising it. It was overall a really enjoyable experience leading up to Christmas and I hope that there will be a lot more authors coming in to talk to us in the future. Recap by Lucy Rice, 2nd year. |
